GoodenSweet Cookies is a family business.  Sean Gooden, Sr., aka "The Cookie Man", is the owner and lead baker. His family has been in East Austin, Texas for five generations. This is the story of how a 2nd Degree Black Belt started a gourmet cookie company that offers the most delectable regular and gluten-free cookies.
 

Cookies and Kung Fu

Sean started baking and selling chocolate chip cookies, from scratch, in high school. He called them "Gooden Ready Cookies." His older brother, Anthony, called them, "World's Famous." Years later, Anthony and Sean both became martial artists who baked. Anthony studied a blended style, but later stopped training. He made amazing gourmet cheesecakes and they called him, 'The Cheesecake Man." Sean started in Shaolin-Do Kung Fu & Tai Chi, and eventually became a 2nd degree Black Belt.  At his teacher's request and guidance, Sean opened his own Kung Fu & Tai Chi school. This inspired Anthony to restart his training. The brothers were in talks to start a business featuring Anthony's incredibly sophisticated and delicious cheesecakes when tragedy struck. In 2008, Anthony lost his life due to a sparring accident.  The grief being too heavy a burden to carry caused Sean reluctantly to close his school. Those were difficult days. Though devastated beyond words, Sean prayed about it and decided to channel his grief into the business he and his brother had dreamed about. He started GoodenSweet Cookies in honor of his late brother, Anthony, a gentle giant who was unfailingly dedicated to God, his family and his friends. Anthony loved to love people. He was a "run into the fire to save whoever he could", kinda guy. A first responder. He was preparing to enter law enforcement at the time of his sudden transition. He was a real life superhero. Though Covid-19 slowed us down like many others, GoodenSweet Cookies has just opened its first production facility! We are now located at 5610 N. IH35, across from Capital Plaza in Austin, Texas. We look to continue our growth citywide, then statewide and nationally.
